This is not a blank notebook. After each entry, Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus or Seneca answers you in their own voice — a 2000-year-old mentor for the pressures of work, family, and the mind.
Open the calendar, pick a day, and write what's on your mind — work, family, or the noise inside your head.
02
Choose a teacher
Select Marcus, Epictetus or Seneca. Each answers in a different tone: consoling, direct, or warm.
03
Receive a reflection
In a few seconds you get a short reflection written in their voice, plus a quote that belongs to the moment.
04
Return anytime
Your entries stay private and searchable. Come back to a day, a pattern, or a lesson whenever you need it.
Less mental noise, clearer decisions the next day.
More patience at home, more focus at work.
A one-minute daily habit — no blank-page anxiety.
A 2000-year-old practice, guided by three quiet voices.
A mentor, not just a notebook.
Most journals leave you staring at an empty page. This one listens back. When you finish writing, you can ask one of the three teachers for a reflection written in their voice. They do not judge. They ask sharper questions, name the pattern, and return you to what you can actually control.
Work
A difficult meeting, a decision under pressure, or the feeling that you are carrying too much.
Family
Patience with children, honest conversations with a partner, or the guilt of not being present.
Mind
Anxiety, regret, restlessness, and the stories you tell yourself about what should have happened.
See a reflection.
This is what happens after you write. An entry, and a few lines back in the voice you chose.

A meeting I handled badly
I lost my temper in the leadership meeting today. Someone questioned a decision I had already explained twice and I heard my own voice get sharp. I was still carrying it at dinner, and the kids noticed. I keep replaying the moment instead of letting it go.
— Marcus Aurelius
You are not angry about the question. You are angry that being questioned twice made you feel unseen. That feeling belongs to you, not to the man who asked. Tomorrow you can answer a third time without heat — that is entirely in your power, and it costs you nothing but a breath.
The dinner table is a second chance. Take it as it is offered.
“You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realise this, and you will find strength.”
Private, consoling and honest. Writes for himself, not for an audience.
Epictetus
Teacher, Discourses
Direct and practical. Returns you to what is within your own power.
Seneca
Correspondent, Letters to Lucilius
Warm and reflective. Writes as if to a close friend.
Who this is for.
Illustrative examples of how people use the journal — written by me, not customer testimonials.
“A thought gets out of my head and onto the page, and something answers back instead of leaving me with it.”
After a long workday
Work pressure and decisions
“A reflection after a bad evening stops the replaying, so I am present again at the dinner table.”
At home
Patience, family, presence
“Three minutes, one entry, and Epictetus gives something concrete to do about it tomorrow.”
Before bed
Restlessness and rumination
Why I built this
Daily Stoic Notes is a personal project, written by the person behind @daily.stoic.notes. I am a student of Stoicism, not a teacher of it — I built this journal because I needed it myself.
Between work, three children, and the years it took to get my own head straight, journaling became the one thing that gave me distance from my thoughts. The Stoics gave me questions I could not find anywhere else. This journal puts those questions in your pocket: less noise, clearer action, and a quiet voice that helps you sleep better at night.
Yes. The 14-day trial runs on a real subscription, so a card is added at checkout. Nothing is charged during the trial, and cancelling before day 14 costs you nothing.
What happens when the 14 days end?+
Your card is charged for the first period only after day 14. Cancel any time before that and you pay nothing at all.
How do I cancel?+
From inside the app, in one click. No email, no phone call, no retention offer.
Is my writing private?+
Yes. Entries are stored under your account and only you can read them. Your text is sent to the reflection model only at the moment you ask for a reflection, and it is never used for training.
Which languages does it support?+
The journal and the reflections work in English, Finnish, Swedish, German, Spanish and Hindi.
Do I have to write every day?+
No. The calendar keeps whatever you write, whenever you write it. Most people write three or four times a week.
Can I get my entries out?+
Yes. You can export all of your entries as a plain text file at any time.
